The events mentioned in this chapter are a part of their past. Maybe the next few chapters will be about their past.
At Aashika's parents' house (17th February)(Author's POV)
Silence was the only thing that could be heard in the house. Just before a few days there were celebrations going all around. Everybody had their own reasons of happiness but all of a sudden, everything has turned upside down. Karuna in a broken voice, "Aashu, till now we allowed you to do whatever you wanted and you have yourself seen the consequences. Not everything in this world is as simple as our family. We should not wait anymore, we've already talked to a matchmaker. Your marriage will be fixed within the next month and you have to agree...Please don't say no to marriage."
Aashika did not utter a single word. All she could here was the voice of her fiance cursing her name, her sister's wails and cries and her own heart shattering into innumerous pieces.
Ved, "Aashi, Don't worry about anything, okay? You can say no to this marriage. It's your life and...."
Aashika mumbled in her broken voice, "N-No, it's nearly impossible for me to live in this house anymore. I am feeling suffocated. Everything is reminding me of those bad events. That poor girl, s-she had no fault in all this shit. Even after that she is suffering at my place. I promise to myself, someday I'll definitely ruin that man and get her all the respect she owed." She passed out crying in her brother's arms. Her family was now broken.
At Bhardwaj Villa, (Author's POV)
These 4 brothers were the biggest gym freaks of their family.
Ruhan, Rivan and Ajay were already in the gym. Rohit was a little late. Ruhan while doing push-ups, "How many more push-ups Reev?"
Rivan, "Another, 50, bhaiya.."
Rohit entered the gym.
Ajay, "Guys, he is there."
Suddenly everyone started to look at Rohit with shiny eyes.
Rohit mocks, "Why are you guys looking at me like I'm a huge, soft, juicy chicken pieces and you guys are hungry since eternity?"
Rivan, "Bro, you've stopped eating non-veg for 4 years, now"
Ruhan, "And that too for just some random girl who doesn't even know that someone even exists who keeps a fast on every Karwa Chauth for her..."
Everyone started to laugh wholeheartedly just to earn a deadpanned look from Rohit.
Ajay, "You guys are such dumbs...By the way, Rohit, What happened last night between you and that girl with whom you went on a date?"
Rohit with an annoyed face, "Firstly, I did not take that spoiled crybaby on a date; it was Ishwari Bua who forced us to go. And during our time together, I made up and shared such horrifying, random stories about our family that she will never even dream of marrying me!"
Everyone burst out in laughter.
Rivan, "Seriously, whenever you guys go on a date, why do you end up scaring your girlies!!"
Ruhan, "See, Ajay and I are in a serious relationship, but what's your problem Rohit, why don't you move on with someone else? After all you don't even know that the girl with whom your dreaming your future will ever be married with you. Don't leave your life in a delusion."
Rohit is loving a girl named Aashika Singhania who studied in University of Mumbai with him. He is a Science student whereas she is a commerce student, so they were not much in contact with each other. But, for Rohit it was love at first sight. He had met so many girls, but she was the one, seeing whom he forgets about all his worries. He takes out millions of small problems in everything, but she is the only one who've ever absolutely seemed perfect to him. Actually, he has loved even the smallest of things in her. Aashika never knew about his feelings for her. She just considered him as a mere friend. On the other hand, for Rohit, Aashika was the whole universe to him.
Rohit, "Bhai, Delusion is the solution...I know someday we will be tied together with the knot of destiny"
Ajay, "In your dreams??"
Rohit ends up throwing the first object nearest to him at Ajay. But it goes past away him.
Ajay, "Just kidding...But at least confess your love to her, then only she will know about it."
Ruhan, "Yeah, she was about to get married but no one knows what happened after that, her marriage got cancelled suddenly."
Rohit, "See, ab to khuda bhi hamare raaste ek krna chahta hai"
(See, now even God wants us to be together)
Mansi and Aparna enter the gym. Rohit composes himself.
Aparna, "Rohit, rishta aaya hai tere liye..." (Rohit, a marriage proposal has come for you...)
Rohit cuts her, "Aap kya duniya bhar ke saare rishte mere liye hi le aaoge...Inn sabke liye bhi to dekho koi ladki...Iss hafte mein 10 rishte dekhe hai mai.." (Will you bring all the marriage proposals in the world just for me? Look for a girl for all these as well... I've received 10 proposals in this week.)
Ruhan and Ajay threw a deadly glare at him.
Mansi, "At least meet her once..She is well educated and owns a business firm as well..."
Rohit, "Oh god! Even we own a firm, why do you think I care about it!"
Aparna, "At least see her bio-data, if you like her...She is even as tall as you...So, you won't have to complain about that as well"
Rohit was 6'4, it was really difficult to find a girl to match her height.
Rohit sighed, "Fine, show me her bio-data."
Aparna handed over the bio-data with a smile, "Trust me, you'll like her."
Rohit scanned through the papers, his eyes widening in surprise as he read the name. He quickly composed himself, trying to hide his excitement. "Aashika?" he thought to himself. "This can't be real."
Mansi noticed his pause, "Is everything alright, Rohit?"
Rohit quickly nodded, "Yes, everything's fine."
Aparna smiled, "So, what do you think?"
Rohit took a deep breath, knowing he had to keep his feelings in check, "Her qualifications are impressive, and she seems like a good match."
Mansi and Aparna exchanged relieved glances. Mansi said, "At least meet her once. You never know if she is the one."
Rohit nodded, his heart racing, "Alright, I'll meet her."
Aparna beamed, "That's all we want. Just give it a chance."
Rohit tried to appear casual, "When can we arrange the meeting?"
Mansi checked her phone, "How about this weekend? We can set up a casual meet-and-greet."
Rohit nodded, "This weekend sounds good."
As they discussed the details, Rohit couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. He knew this was his chance to finally express his feelings to Aashika without anyone elder knowing his prior connection to her.
After Mansi and Aparna left, Ruhan, Ajay, and Rivan gathered around Rohit with knowing grins.
Ruhan smirked, "So, Rohit, Aashika, huh? Couldn't believe my ears when I heard her name."
Ajay chuckled, "You did a good job hiding your excitement back there. Almost had us fooled."
Ajay laughed, "Well, looks like the universe did that for you. This is amazing!"
Rivan teased, "So, Mr. Romeo, what's the plan now? Are you going to confess your love dramatically or play it cool?"
Rohit laughed, "I think I'll keep it simple. Just be honest with her. No need for any drama."
Ajay grinned, "Honesty? That's new. But seriously, we're happy for you, man."
Ruhan added, "Yeah, it's about time something good happened. Aashika is a great girl."
Rivan teased again, "Just remember, if you need any help with the wedding planning, especially if you want to run away with her, we're here for you."
Rohit laughed, "Thanks, guys. I appreciate it. And don't worry, you'll all be part of it."
Ajay patted Rohit on the back, "We're just glad to see you this happy. It's going to be awesome."
Ruhan nodded, "Absolutely. Now, let's celebrate this good news!"
Rohit grinned, feeling a sense of relief and joy as his brothers continued to tease and support him.
At Aashika's parents' house, (Author's POV)
Karuna sat at the dining table, deep in thought. Amar entered the room and noticed her worried expression.
Amar, "Karuna, is everything okay?"
Karuna, "Amar, we need to talk about Aashika's marriage proposal. The boy's family has accepted, and they want to meet this weekend."
Amar, "That's good news, isn't it? But you seem worried."
Karuna sighed, "I am happy, but I'm also concerned. You know how much Aashika has been through. Her traumas still affect her deeply."
Amar, "I understand, but we have to give her a chance to move forward. Maybe this proposal will bring some positivity into her life. We've already lost one of our flowers, can't lose Aashika now, we need to make her life fruitful and embraced with love..."
Karuna nodded, "I hope so. But what if she feels overwhelmed? What if she can't handle it?"
Amar, "We'll be there for her, every step of the way. We just need to ensure she's comfortable and not pressured."
Karuna, "You're right. I just want her to be happy and safe. Do you think we should talk to Rohit and his family about her past?"
Amar, "Maybe not right away. Let's see how the initial meeting goes. If things progress, we'll have to be honest with them, but for now, let's focus on making Ashika comfortable."
Karuna, "Agreed. I'll make sure Ashika knows she can talk to us about anything. She needs to feel our support."
Amar, "Exactly. We'll take it one step at a time. This could be a good opportunity for her to heal."
Karuna managed a small smile, "I hope so. I really do."
Amar, "Trust in her strength, Karuna. She's been through a lot, but she's also very resilient. We'll get through this together."
Karuna, "Thank you, Amar. I needed to hear that. Let's prepare for the weekend and make sure everything goes smoothly."
Amar, "We'll do our best. And remember, no matter what happens, we're in this together."
Karuna nodded, feeling a bit more reassured as they began planning for the upcoming meeting.
On their meet,(Author's POV) Their looks👇🏻
The meeting between Rohit's family and Aashika's family went smoothly, and everyone was pleased with the arrangement. It was decided that the marriage would take place on the upcoming Mahashivratri (11th March)
Later that evening, Rohit noticed that Aashika seemed uneasy. Concerned, he approached her while everyone else was engaged in conversations.
Rohit, "Aashika, can we talk for a moment?"
Aashika looked up, her eyes reflecting her unease. "Sure, Rohit."
They stepped out to the garden for some privacy. Rohit took a deep breath before speaking.
Rohit, "I noticed you seemed a bit uncomfortable earlier. Is everything okay?"
Aashika sighed, looking down. "It's just... everything is happening so fast. I'm not sure if I'm ready for this."
Rohit nodded understandingly. "I get it, Aashika. This is a big step, and it's perfectly normal to feel this way. I want you to know that you don't have to go through this alone. We can take it slow, and if you ever feel overwhelmed, just let me know."
Aashika glanced at him, feeling a bit more reassured. "Thank you, Rohit. It's not just the speed of things. There's a lot I've been through, and it's hard to open up and trust again. Shall I share something with you? After that if you still believe in me, then only we should proceed.."
Rohit gently took her hand. "I understand, and I promise to be patient. We don't have to rush into anything. I just want you to be happy and comfortable. And you can share anything with me.."
Aashika felt a small spark of hope. "I appreciate that, Rohit. I guess I need to believe that everything will be alright. Maybe it's time to have a little faith. I am not an open book to you or anyone..I've been through a lot in the past, and it has made me cautious about physical closeness. I want you to know that... I may need time for this, maybe I won't be that comfortable for the first time...I hope you understand."
Rohit smiled. "Aashika, I understand completely. Your comfort and well-being are my priority. Physical intimacy is not something I need from you to feel close. I just want to hold your hand and be there for you throughout our lives together. I just want your support and companionship. That's it what I expect and want from my wife."
Aashika nodded, feeling a bit lighter. "Thank you. Now, it's the time to trust in God's plan."
Rohit gently brushed her cheek, his touch reassuring. "Love means respecting your partner and supporting him or her in every way one can. Let's give our relationship a try. Shall we meet tomorrow at the cafeteria?"
Aashika, "Yeah sure...also let your siblings accompany you, so that I'll get to know them better.."
Rohit, "Do you like a joint family?"
Aashika replied, "Actually, yesss!"
Rohit, "I hope my hilarious family doesn't let your morale down"
Sounds of giggles fill the environment. Aashika felt a sense of comfort in Rohit's words and decided to take a leap of faith, trusting that with time, things would get better. They returned to the house, where the families were still celebrating, with Aashika feeling a bit more hopeful about the future.
Next day At Cafeteria, (Author's POV)
Aashika nervously approached the bustling cafeteria where Rohit and his brothers, Ruhan, Ajay, and Rivan, were already seated. She felt a bit unsure about meeting them for the first time.
Rohit stood up, greeting her warmly, with a shine in his eyes, "Hey Aashika, How are you?"
Aashika, "Absolutely fine"
Rohit sensing that his brothers were staring at him, waiting for him to introduce them to Aashika as he had already groomed them a lot at home so that they don't end up embarassing him in front of Aashika, "So yeah, meet the troublemakers. This is Ruhan, the eldest, Ajay, his mischievous twin, and Rivan, my younger twin, cum the baby of the house!" He said pointing at each one of them.
Ruhan, with a grin that showed his mischief even as an adult, nodded at her, "Nice to finally meet you, Aashika. Since yesterday, Rohit hasn't stopped talking about you."
Ajay leaned in with a twinkle in his eye, "He's right. It's been Aashika this, Aashika that, all day long."
Rivan, the youngest and Rohit's twin, added eagerly, "Yeah, and guess what? Today we've decided to make you known about some of Rohit bhaiya's facepalm-worthy moments."
Rohit glared at him. While the other two were trying to control their smiles.
Rohit with the most awkward smile, "Reev, have you forgotten everything I told you at home."
By this time, everyone were trying to hold back their laughter.
Aashika with a small grin, "Okay, at least I can know a few of 'Oh-no' typsy moments of my fiance's life"
Rohit's face was flustered to hear fiance from her mouth but he tried his best not to show it to Aashika.
Rivan with a mischievous grin, "You know what, Rohit once tried to sneak a stray puppy into our house when we were kids."
Aashika laughed, intrigued by the story. "Really? What happened then?"
Rivan continued animatedly, "Well, Ruhan caught him red-handed with this cute little pup hiding under his jacket. Mom wasn't too pleased, but somehow we convinced her to let us keep it. That puppy became our family pet for years. You haven't met him yet na, his name is Titan"
Ruhan chuckled, "Yeah, and Rohit's puppy eyes saved the day that time."
Ajay teased, "See, Aashika? Rohit's always been a softie at heart."
Rohit playfully nudged Ajay, "Alright, enough about me. Let Aashika enjoy her meal in peace."
Rivan grinned mischievously, "Oh, don't worry, Rohit. We're just getting started yet. Remember that time when Rohit tried to impress a girl by pretending to know all about exotic birds?"
Ruhan joined in, "Oh yeah, he was so into it, that he ended up giving a lecture on penguins instead of peacocks!"
Rohit rolled his eyes good-naturedly, "Alright, alright, let's not relive every embarrassing moment. And I was just 8 years old back then.."
Ruhan sensing Aashika's nervousness, leaned closer to Aashika, his tone turning more sincere, "But on a serious note, Aashika, welcome to our crazy family. We tease each other a lot, but we're all about having fun and supporting each other. So, feel free to be yourself."
Ajay nodded in agreement, "Yeah, Aashika. Just relax and enjoy the madness. We're here to make you feel at home. And we always maintain that 'One for all & All for one' motto amongst ourselves."
Rivan trying to lighten the moment, "Yeah, even if you want us to be your brothers instead of Rohit bhaiya's at the wedding, then we can do that also for you. We can be from the bride's side instead of the groom's side. If you say, we will also steal his shoes instead of your sisters and in return we will take money from him....I mean some Shagun ke paise..." (Shagun ke paise is some money which is gifted to someone at an auspicious event or after meeting each other after a long time)
Aashika's eyes widened accompanied with a hearty laughter.
Rohit was constantly gazing at her with a small smile playing on his lips, He thinks "Though these dumbs didn't follow any of my instructions but at least they managed to make her laugh and giggle at the same time.."
Throughout lunch, they continued to share more playful stories and inside jokes, each brother adding their own twist and making Aashika feel more comfortable with their lively banter. By the end of the meal, she felt like she had not only gained Rohit's brothers as friends but also a sense of belonging in their warm and spirited family circle.
After their lunch...Rohit drops Aashika to her home and others headed back to Bhardwaj Villa.
At Bhardwaj Villa,(Author's POV)
Rohit enters Ruhan's room after having dinner where his siblings Ruhan, Ajay, and Rivan were hanging out.
Rohit, "Alright, you guys, sit down. We need to talk."
Ruhan (Grinning mischievously) and mimicking his voice, "Uh-oh, what's got big brother Rohit in a serious mood?"
Rohit, (Sitting down with a mock-serious expression) "Seriously? You guys forgot everything I taught you about how to behave with Aashika today at lunch."
Ajay, (Feigning innocence) "What? We were on our best behavior!"
Rivan, (Trying to hide a smile) "Yeah, we were just being our charming selves."
Ruhan, (Laughing) "Come on, Rohit. We were just helping Aashika feel at home!"
Rohit, with a deadpanned look "Helping? You mean embarrassing me to no end! And Ruhan, you had to bring up that bird lecture incident to make her feel at home, seriously!!"
Ruhan, (Chuckling) "Hey, it was too good to resist!"
Ajay, (Playfully) "And Rivan couldn't stop talking about that puppy story. Classic Rohit!"
Rivan, (Glaring at Ajay for reminding Rohit about it) "She loved hearing about your soft side, bro."
Rohit, (Sighing dramatically) "You guys are impossible. But please, next time, let's stick to topics that don't involve my embarrassing moments, alright?"
Rivan, "Wait, you're taking us along again to meet Aashika? Seriously, bro?"
Rohit, "Yeah, I have to, at least for the next meet. After that I'll have the courage to go alone. Honestly, I'm the nervous one here."
Rivan, "You? Nervous? Come on, seriously!"
Ajay, "You need COURAGE!!"
Rohit rubbing his neck , "Yeah..For the first few meets we need to be more playful and friendly rather than behaving like being in a typical relationship. And having you guys for that makes it easier."
Rivan mimicking a serious face, "Alright, we'll be there to keep things light. No worries, bro."
Ajay, "Yeah! We've got your back, bro"
Ruhan, (Patting Rohit's shoulder) "Don't worry, Rohit. We'll behave next time. But admit it, for Aashika, you're even more adorable now!"
Rivan (Smiling) "Broo, Aashika is super lucky to have you and us as a bonus package."
Rohit, (Grinning despite himself) "Yeah, yeah. Just remember, next time we meet Aashika, let's keep the embarrassing stories to a minimum, alright?"
Ruhan, Ajay & Rivan in unison, "Okay, Deal!"
Rohit, (Smiling at his siblings) "Alright, thanks guys. Now, who's up for a good thriller movie?"
Ruhan, (Excitedly) "Count me in!"
Ajay, (Eagerly) "Me too!"
Rivan, "Mai to humesha ki tarah na kabhi bolta hi nahi.." (As always, I never say no!)
Rohit, (Laughing) "Alright, let's go then!"
